Bakoyannis: The EU still divided over Kosovo’s independence

The European Union is divided whether to recognize the unilateral declaration of Kosovo’s independence, loudly announced by Albanian leaders for Sunday, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis said in Washington.

Speaking in Center for Strategic and International Studies, Bakoyannis said that the unified stance of the 27-member organization remains the crucial element for solving the final crisis in the Balkans, but has made clear that Athens is in no hurry to recognize Pristina's independence.

However, the Greek Foreign Minister also said that the Kosovo issue will top the agenda of Monday's meeting of European foreign ministers in Brussels, which will take place just hours after the announced declaration of independence in Pristina.
