EU to "take note" of Pristina’s declaration, to leave recognition to member states
The European Union will “take note” of the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, while it will leave the decision to recognize the secession of Kosovo from Serbia to member states, the Slovenian EU presidency said on Friday.

"If and when a decision on the declaration of independence is brought, the EU will take note of the decision and express its opinion about the situation", the presidency said.
"As far as recognition is concerned, this will be a matter of each member state", it added.
The EU will also ignore the results of the UN Security Council debate on Thursday.
"Regardless of what is going on in New York, EU ministers will discuss the situation and take decisions when the moment is ripe", a high-ranking Slovenian official said.
A high-ranking French official said the EU was not worried about the fact that it lacks a green light from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to launch the mission to Kosovo.
"It is true there is no green light, but there is no red or yellow light either", the French official said.
