Kostunica: Serbia will not accept dictates, it will file lawsuits

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica says Serbia will not accept the dictate of one part of the international community, but will rather file a lawsuit against the countries that have recognised Kosovo's unilateral independence.

"I urge that we file a lawsuit against them. Not to fight a war, but to file a lawsuit. If you file a lawsuit, then you can count that at one point, the other side will withdraw its decision and that negotiations will begin once again," Kostunica said.

Kostunica underlined that he was not for a suspension of cooperation with the EU, but rather for in favor that Serbia, as long as it did not clarify the disputable issues regarding Kosovo, should act as Switzerland or Norway - it should cooperate, but it should not be a member.

"As for the EU membership, it will not take place before many, many years, so let us use the time to discuss things...We can cooperate with the EU until these issues are settled, just like some other countries are doing," Kostunica said.

According to him, the claims that Serbia would isolate itself if it did not yield to the pressures coming from the EU were "nonsense," since, by this reasoning, one could also say that having voted against EU membership, Norway had opted for self-isolation.

"There is no isolation and possibility that Serbia be exposed to sanctions. There is no self-isolation either, because not a single country has ever done such a thing. This is propaganda of the dirtiest kind," the Serbian prime minister said.

"Things are being dramatised and presented a choice between two things - Russia or the West. This is nonsense, and presenting things in this way represents the most brutal and worst possible propaganda," Kostunica said.
