Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed on Sunday a personal message to Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica reiterating Russia's firm support to Belgrade's policy on Kosovo.
"Russia's stand on Kosovo remains unchanged - the unilateral declaration of independence of the province has dealt a serious blow to international law principles", Putin wrote.
"Russia is ready to counter this dangerous development through joint endeavors and Serbia can count on its solidarity and support", he said.
Putin said Moscow focusses "on close cooperation with Serbia in regard to a wide scope of international issues in the interest of peace and stability in the Balkans and in order to prevent a rift in Europe".
