"Russia, India and China call for the resumption of talks between Belgrade and Pristina under the framework of international laws to seek a solution for the Serbian territory," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a press conference.

Lavrov called for the Kosovo issue to be settled "exclusively on the basis of international laws" and rejected the independence of Kosovo. He said the unilateral declaration of Kosovo independence violated UN Security Council resolution 1244.

Lavrov spoke after the meeting of so-called emerging economic giants, known as the BRIC countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, held in the Siberian town of Yekaterinburg.
