US derision at joint Kosovo request by Russia, China and India
The US administration rejected with derision Thursday’s joint call by Russia, China and India to resume talks on the future status of Kosovo.

"I've got fresh news for you: the status of Kosovo is resolved - it is an independent country", US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in Washington.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi and India's Pranab Mukherjee called for the "resumption of talks between Belgrade and Pristina under the framework of international laws to seek a solution for the Serbian territory."
"The question of status of Kosovo must be solved in line with the norms of international law, with the leading role of the United Nations, and based on an agreement of the sides ... The unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo is against UN Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, which - until a new decision by this organization is made - must remain the legal basis for the resolution of the Kosovo problem", the joint statement said.
The single most important call for the resumption of Kosovo status talks was issued at the meeting of the so-called emerging economic giants, known as the BRIC countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, held in the Siberian town of Yekaterinburg.
Brazil's Foreign Minister Celso Amorim is joining his Russian, Chinese and Indian counterparts on Friday.
Brazilia is one of the strongest opponents of Kosovo's secession in Latin America.
