Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency, said he expected any NATO pullout to be gradual.
'It will most probably slowly reduce its size, but it will stay there for the next three, four, or five years,' he said.
NATO officials refuse to put a timeframe on the 16,000-plus KFOR mission, saying only that it will remain as long as necessary.
Jansa was unclear as to exactly when the Eulex mission could start its work.
Asked if Eulex could arrive this year, he answered: 'I think so.'
