"This is not a decision I make, but it is a decision which has to be made in New York", Solana said following his address to the plenary session of the European Parliament.
"We are in permanent contact with New York and it is not up to me, but up to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to say more about that", Solana added.
The high representative previously told the EP session that he hoped that in the next several days he will be able to report on the progress made regarding the status of the EULEX mission, so that the situation, after the Kosovo Constitution comes into force on June 15, could move in the right direction.
When asked on what he bases his optimism, Solana answered that he is a "realist who wants to be an optimist".
