Stefanovic expects serious agreement and consensus

Serbian parliament speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic stated on Wednesday that he expects all the relevant government bodies, particularly the team preparing the platform and the negotiations concerning the Kosovo issue, to file the final documents to the parliament for discussion very soon.

"I expect a serious agreement to be reached first and a consensus on the most important matters which need to be discussed, and over the next few weeks such a platform could be tabled in the parliament," Stefanovic told Television of Serbia.

He underscored that the parliament and citizens now have all the details about the developments regarding the talks and there are no vague points any more.

Stefanovic said that the goal is to achieve a consensus, which is why the entire process is taking more time.

We are trying to find a solution that would be adequate for the widest public and political parties, Stefanovic said and added that this needs to be a state issue and not a political one.

Commenting on the proposition put forth by members of the Serbian parliament Committee on Kosovo for a survey committee to be set up so as to check the manner in which the funds from the Serbian budget were spent in Kosovo over the past 12 years, Stefanovic said that he does not see anything bad in the initiative.
